Of Jackson Browne is one of my musical heroes. And it goes to show that great songwriting goes hand in hand with a love and respect of our oceans! The Sylvia Earle Alliance posted this video of him singing his song “If I Could Be Anywhere” at TEDxGPGP. He wrote this last April on a “Sylvia Earle-inspired trip to brainstorm ways to save the endangered ocean”. Browne was the 2010 LEAF award recipient from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment for his “early, strong and untiring advocacy for the planet” and “extraordinary body of work as a songwriter and musician that reminds us of the magical and redemptive connection that exists between all peoples and the natural world, and of the mysteries of time and distance that constrain our lives.”

And let’s not forget the late great Frank Zappa, composer of “The Ocean is the Ultimate Solution”. I wonder how many of his somewhat brain-addled listeners back in the day got the joke.
