Happy September 19, also known as Talk Like a Pirate Day! Personally, I’m rather fond of French pirates. There’s a certain elegance in being forced to walk le planche! To get you all in the mood, here’s a little ditty, Le Chant Du Pirate, by the fabulous Edith Piaf.

I’m perplexed by the translation of “Talk Like a Pirate Day” to “Parler Heureux Comme Un Jour Des Pirates” which means something quite different (literally, “Speak Happy Like a Pirate Day”). Is this actually what they call it in France, or just a mangled Google translation?
